Heather and Nick get married

Last week was a great week. We officially celebrated the first day of spring, which greeted us with temps in the low to mid 70's. Ahh, I love this time of year (minus the pollen).

I had the opportunity to create a gorgeous wedding cake for an equally sweet couple, Heather and Nick. I have been working with Heather and Nick for over a year in preparation for their big day. They are such a lovely couple and really, seriously, two of the coolest and nicest people you will ever meet.
Their wedding took place at the lovely Port Royal Golf Club located in Port Royal Plantation. Heather and Nick used two different shades of blue to accent their evening reception. They wanted a cake with a feel of the ocean and an obvious depiction of the fact their wedding was a destination wedding. They did not, however, need a beach theme. We decided on an abstract wave pattern using their two blues, and an accent of sugar phaeleonopsis orchids with curly willow (Their wedding flowers).
I also had the pleasure of talking to both Heather and Nick separately just an hour before they were to walk down the matrimonial aisle. They were very relaxed and happy. It was just wonderful! I hope the two of them enjoyed the first glimpse of their wedding cake together and had a fantastic wedding day!

This, is the final product.

The BEAUTIFUL bride, Heather, just an hour before she marries Nick, the man of her dreams!

I was Heather's Maid of Honor and can attest to the beauty of the cake. I heard lots of ooh's and ahh's as it made it's way through the reception area. Congrats Nick and Heather!
