Sand, Sun, Surf and WEDDINGS!!

WOW!! Hilton Head Island is bustling in June. Not only are we sought out by vacationers from throughout the country, we are sought after by engaged couples as the perfect mix of beauty and vacation for their wedding days! This combo brings weddings off the beaten schedule path. We see Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays as choice days for celebrating in addition to the ever popular Fridays, Saturdays and even Sundays. So...what's your day of the week??

Due to the summer wedding schedule, I am combining two weeks worth of cakes into this blog. Below are some cake photos from the first couple weeks in June. Enjoy the summer season!!

Capt. Brandon and 1st Mate Marty- Cahill's Market- Bluffton, SC

Paula contacted me in hopes of finding someone to create her son Brandon's beloved boat in cake. I said not a problem!! Rumor has it, Brandon loves his boat (and his new wife Marty) so much that he bought himself and Marty black swim suits to wear when they are out on the black and white boat. Talk about devotion (and color coordinating)! This cake was served at their rehearsal dinner at Cahill's Market which is the local farmer's market in Bluffton. It was a beautiful location and I hope Brandon loved his cake boat as much as his real boat!!- I also received a nice email from Paula after the party.

Sheri, I just wanted to let you know how very pleased and excited I was about my son's boat cake. You did a fantastic job and the cake was a big hit. Everyone raved about how great it looked and tasted and we had plenty to serve everyone, with leftovers. All were impressed with your talent. Thank you for helping to make our special event a success. I will always remember you. Thanks Always, Paula

Frank and Elaine celebrate 40 Years of marriage!!- Panini's - Beaufort, SC

Happy 40th Anniversary Frank and Elaine!! This two tier butter cream cake was decorated with a filigree pattern and white sugar roses.

Kerri and Joshua- Belfair Plantation- Bluffton, SC

Kerri and Joshua are a great couple who celebrated their union at the gorgeous Belfair Clubhouse. Their reception was elegant, using sage green and ivory color scheme complete with stunning floral arrangements by A Floral Affair, who also provided fresh flowers for the cake design. Congratulations Kerri and Joshua!

Cortney and Scott- Marriott Resort Palmetto Dunes- Hilton Head Island, SC

Cortney and Scott had a PINK wedding! It was soooo beautiful! Thanks to Linda with Amanda Rose Weddings and Melanie Allen at the Marriott Resort, this wedding reception was one in a million. Cortney and Scott chose a 4 tier cake separated by lime green and hot pink fresh flowers provided by A Floral Affair. I honestly walked out of this wedding reception wishing my table decor looked like that at my wedding. I wish I had pictures to post of the glittery, shimmery pink overlays!! So up my alley!! ;)

Lora and Stephen- Dunes House Palmetto Dunes- Hilton Head Island, SC

Lora and Stephen had a destination wedding on Hilton Head from New York. This 3 tier butter yellow fondant cake was accented with a pin cushion design and paper butter flies. Lora fell in love with these paper butterflies and wanted to incorporate them into her cake design. They were the perfect accent to the cake and really added the pop of blue she was hoping for. Congratulations Lora and Stephen. I hope to meet you on a return trip to Hilton Head!!

Neesha and Dustin- The Westin Resort and Spa- Port Royal Plantation- Hilton Head Island, SC

Mr and Mrs. Michael wanted a pale blue cake with pearlized white accents. This 4 tier butter cream cake is adorned with sugar paste shells, fondant textured border and monogram in off white. What a beautiful way to incorporate the beach without going overly beachy with the design. I hope your wedding was a brilliant day! Congatulations!

Tyler's Cleveland Cavaliers Love- Truffles Cafe- Bluffton, SC

Michelle and Tyler Celebrated their wedding rehearsal dinner at Truffles Cafe. Their party was complete with an ode to Tyler's love of the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James (especially the shoes!) This grooms cake was a cake replica of LeBron's latest Nike "The Six" and a cake basketball with the Cleveland Cavaliers logo. I very much enjoyed working with Michelle to pull this grooms cake off and hope Tyler loved the cake! I am willing to bet it was the best tasting shoe he had ever had!! ;)

Congratulations Graduate Coryn!!

A good friend Nancy of A Floral Affair commisioned me to create a grad cap cake for her "baby" Coryn's graduation party. Yes, she graduated high school last week. Oh how the time flies!!! I cannot imagine when my "baby" will walk that stage in his grad cap!!! Congratulations Coryn and Nancy!

Happy Sweet 16 Christina!!

Christina celebrated her 16th birthday with a 3 tier peace themed cake. She wanted a climbing vine motif with little blossoms in her favorite turquoise blue color. This cake would not be complete without peace signs, smiley faces, butter flies and other groovy momentos. Christina has also begun dreaming up a design for her Sheri's Edible Designs wedding cake. While I am thrilled to work with her again in the future....I hope it is a long long time from now!!!!! Happy Birthday Christina!

Patricia and Nicholas- Shipyard Beach Club- Hilton Head, SC

Patti and Nicholas loved the idea of a cup cake wedding cake. Their beach theme cupcakes were adorned with white chocolate starfish and sand dollar. The topper was a large cup cake created from cake with sugar alligator bride and groom topper. Congratulations Patti and Nicholas!!!

Eric and Denise say I Do!!- Coosaw Creek Country Club- North Charleston, SC

I do not service Charleston on a normal basis. Eric and Denise were definitely an exception and there was no question who was to create their wedding cake. I LOVE Eric and Denise...mostly because they are great friends to me and my husband. When we learned of our friends engagement we were so excited! When we learned they would love one of Sheri's Edible Designs creations, we were thrilled, when we learned the wedding was in Charleston (two hours away) we were up for the challenge!- Eric and Denise decided on a 3 tier butter cream cake with a cornflower blue textured fondant ribbon border and scroll pattern design on each tier. I also created butter yellow sugar roses with bright orange tips. I'm over the moon for my friends and was honored to be a part of their wedding day!!
