I'm back...and I'm bringing many celebrations with me!

So....yes, I've been absent from the blogosphere as of late. I know the same time every year I give the skinny on how life is a busy jumble of things, how I've been working day and night and night and day to create artful pieces of confectionery perfection. That rings true for this year, too. I would love to give a warm story for each couple who was married in the last month, as I forged relationships with each and every one of them. Unfortunately, I am sitting on my office floor...(because my back has become tolerant only to blogging from the floor) my finger tips aching from returning the email influx, and my eyes bloodshot from sleeping only a wink in the last month

Complaining? I think not! Tired and humbled by the spring wedding season? Very much so.

To type the details for each couple would take days to complete. I can say...the clients, the weddings, the cakes, the details of their planning process....all of it is very deserving of acknowledgment. Frankly, there have been so many weddings in the last 4 weeks- I have to resort to posting only photos of these lovely cakes. I am honored to have been part of all the weddings I have created cakes for in May and June.

And now...the cakes-

A very special thank you to Scott Hopkins Photographer and Belle Rouge Studio for a few of the photos in this blog post!

There must be something in the air!

No- seriously...there must be! It is no doubt the celebration season and that couldn't ring more true for the 25 clients I serviced in the last 2 weeks! It has been crazy, busy, beautiful and worthwhile!

As my business and popularity grow (and I say this in the most humble way), so does my obsession with providing the most perfect, memorable and delicious cakes possible. My wonderful clients took advantage of that this spring and it certainly paid off.

I apologize to the clients whose cakes did not make the blog. Unfortunately, there were some cakes that were picked up before I could snap a photo, and some deliveries where I forgot my camera. All cakes were photo worthy :-) and will be posted as soon as I get the pro pics from my photog friends! Enjoy!

Here is a look into some of what has been created in the last 2 weeks!

Spring is here, and with it come the celebrations!

Whew, the past two weeks have been a whirlwind of dazzling, exciting and challenging cake designs!

I've created many grooms cakes, birthday cakes, celebration cakes and wedding cakes over the past 10 days.

Some of the cakes have intricate filigree piping or quilting, some have edible sugar diamonds and lots of frills- the grooms cakes have had funny stories behind them and the birthday cakes have had meaningful ones. Sometimes this career path could not be any better (some days are definitely better than others...)

One very special project I have had the pleasure of assisting with has been the Benson's 50th Anniversary cake. Mr. and Mrs. Benson were married 50 years ago. They had a very beautiful and modern wedding cake (For 1960). Their daughter, Betty, commissioned me to replicate the cake, just as the original, as well as re-create the topper for their surprise party. I have to say, I had to dig way way back into the memory banks and pull out skills I forgot I had. It has honestly been forever since I've had to pipe ruffles, garland, butter cream roses and shell borders. I felt as though I were back at my very humble beginnings. It was a real treat to get to do it though and I'm sure they will be very happy with the result!

Crabb-Cake and Razzle Dazzle Glitz

This weekend was a fun one! I had the pleasure of creating a wedding cake and grooms cake for Lindsey and John who were married at Palmetto Bluff, and a wedding cake for Kimberly and James who were married at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa.

Lindsey chose a 3 tier square cake with shiny champagne colored butter cream complete with white lattice quilt piping and pearl swags. It was also decorated with a pearlized band and a monogram C. The grooms cake was a Dungeness crab because Lindsey and John's last name is Crabb.

Kimberly and James had a rhinestone reception and everything was glitzy and sparkling. Their cake was no exception! The 4 tier fondant cake with an alabaster finish was trimmed in shiny silver banding and a champagne satin swag and bow. The handmade custom sugar brooch had pearls and stones set in a silver circle. Kimberly wanted the cake finished off with a rhinestone monogram H, which she purchased.

I had lots of fun creating these beautiful cakes for such wonderful clients. I wish them much happiness and many successes in their married lives!

Onto the pictures!
