The Reason I Love What I Do

As a human being, it is not uncommon to question your purpose. It is not uncommon to wonder if what are doing with your gifts and talents is really what you were destined to do.

I often stop to think "Is making cakes what I really deep down LOVE to do?".

The answer to that question is always yes. Some days are harder than others. High stress levels and lack of sleep are most often to blame. ;)

The truth is, at the root of it all, I just really love what I do. The most amazing part is that physically making the cake is just a small part of my actual reward.

I honestly love when people pass by my shop window and stand to marvel at what is in front of them. A few of my most treasured pieces replicated for display purposes usually stops complete strangers from continuing on their designated paths and take a minute just to look. Most usually stop in, not to order a cake, but just to say hi. I enjoy their questions and genuine interest in how some of my pieces are created. They compliment my work and are inquisitive about my age.
" You look so young, how old are you?"

It touches me deeply to know that I have reached people with my art form.

To get a call from a bride upon return from her honeymoon just to thank me for making her wedding day that much more special; No, don't thank me, thank you for allowing me to take part in your incredible day! To hear that my cake made that much of an impact on you to call me and thank me for doing what I love to do.....well that is just the icing on the cake. Pun very much intended.
