It's October....again!

Wow! Another year, and another October. I have been truly blessed to continue strong in business and enjoy season after season of incredible weddings!

This weekend was very busy, as usual for the first weekend in October. I had an amazing time creating lots of beautiful cakes! I wasn't able to photograph all of the cakes from this weekend as I had time constraints and dead camera batteries...ugh!

The clients were amazing this weekend! Jessica and David, whose cakes you will see in a moment, first contacted me over 2 years ago! They met with me in my tiny Pineland Station studio and browsed through a portfolio much smaller than what it is today! I have enjoyed their visits to Hilton Head every summer and love when they order two small cakes of their wedding cake flavor to enjoy while they are vacationing. It is truly bittersweet. On one hand I am happy their day has finally come and that they are husband and wife, and on the other I am sad not to see their names on my client list, or anticipate their wedding with all the excitement of old friends!

In addition to Jessica and David, I want to congratulate the other couples married this weekend! The Papanias, The Grays, The Haleys, The Kays, The Michaels', and the Masons!

Again, I will await the pro-photos from the cakes I couldn't photograph but in the meantime,
I will share most of them with you!

Sleep doesn't come easy in September...okay it doesn't come at all! But who would want to sleep when there are so many beautiful wedding cakes to be created?!

Sorry to have left you hanging in the blog-o-sphere for so long. Where were we? Oh, yes that's right- in August! Forgive me friends!

The last two weeks have been jam-packed with wedding cake production. I've been busy playing cake wizard behind closed doors and an appointment schedule of unavailability. If you're new to my blog or you haven't yet secured your wedding cake with Sheri's Edible Designs, it's safe to say this is a crazy time of year and I have been known to clear the calendar of all things consultation. I do this to be able focus my energy to the cakes and clients who've ordered them- after all, it is someone's wedding cake we're talking about here. Not to worry though, the same courtesy I extend to my current clients is the same courtesy I will extend to you on your wedding day. I let nothing come in the way of my production schedule and I'm sure that is preferred.

Summer Time Fun

I love the summer wedding season! The cakes in the summer season tend to have neither theme nor distinct style. In the world of cake design, anything goes during the dead of summer!

You may notice spring time is full of light pinks and greens, fresh or sugar flowers and simple colored trim. Fall cakes bear fruit, dark colors, patterns and textures. Seasons definitely have a general color scheme, too. Dark, deep hues for the fall and light jewel-toned pastels for the spring.

In the summer we see beach theme, formal with monograms, sand castles (yes...castles), tall grande allure, and most of all the use of a wide array of colors from every end of the spectrum!

With that in mind, please enjoy some of the highlights of the summer - in cake!

I have to say, the idea of getting up early to start at 5:45 am didn't sit well with me at first, but one swift look down at that 'baby belly' of mine still lurking 7 months post-partum, I couldn't sign up fast enough! My job is demanding, and every one knows I work some long hours. I love the flexibility of the different schedules with LoCo Boot Camp. Today marked the beginning of week 2 and I can say first hand, this work out will kick your butt! You feel it all, and the best news is.....it's working! I'm already down 2 dress sizes! I cannot wait to see the final results at the end of camp!
