Bright Celebrations!

This week I had the pleasure of creating wedding cakes and celebration cakes for some of the most colorful clients. Their personalities are larger than life, and so were their celebrations!

Kristen wanted a wedding cake that depicted the time she and her fiance lived in Hawaii. After spending 3 years on the big island, they developed a love for whale watching, kayaking, sea turtles, surfing and spam musabi. What is that you ask? It is spam, made sushi style. A lovely filet of spam (iiick), lays on a pad of sticky rice and is wrapped in a strip of sea weed. Yum......

Their cake featured colorful butter cream beginning with a vibrant green and fading into shades of oranges and yellows. Custom sugar pieces of their favorite things decorated the cake. I know they loved this cake as I got many thumbs up from wedding guests who were beginning to arrive in waiting for the festivities to begin as I was exiting the beautiful Hampton Lake reception venue.

Stacy wanted a wedding cake with just as many pops of color as her wedding reception. Located at The Dunes House in Palmetto Dunes, Stacy's wedding reception was filled with many pops of light pink, hot pink and vibrant orange. From the hanging lanterns and pomanders, to the brightly striped pink and orange lollipop favors, this wedding was very striking! Stacy's wedding cake was a 3 tier cake finished in white butter cream with a light pink fondant band at the base of each tier and a cascade of handmade sugar Gerber Daisies in hot pink and vibrant orange.

James graduates! This cake was created to help James celebrate his graduation from high school. The Hilton Head High School Seahawk celebrated with this grad cap cake. Congratulations James!

Latest Cakes...welcome June!

Jim and Jackie- Leamington Beach Pavilion- Palmetto Dunes Resort

Jim and Jackie celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary by renewing their vows with 25 of their closest friends and family as witnesses. Congratulations on 50 wonderful years!

Kimrey and Clark- Marriott Ocean Resort and Spa

Kimrey fell in love with a display in my showroom and didn't change a thing about the cake! This cake was meant for her and I'm happy she loved it! This 4 tier fondant covered cake is built of varying height tiers. The bottom tier and the second to bottom tier are double the height of a traditional tier, standing about 11 inches tall. The top two tiers are shorter than average tiers, standing about 3 inches tall. A sugar peony, sugar calla lilies and sugar twigs and curly willow branches finish the cake. I hope you loved your cake as much as I loved creating it! Congrats, Kimrey and Clark.

Katie and Marty- Wexford Clubhouse- Wexford Plantation, Hilton Head

Katie and Marty had a very classic and sophisticated wedding reception so it was only fitting that their wedding cake also be classic and sophisticated. This 3 tier round butter cream finished cake was decorated with pearlized ivory fondant accents. Each tier displayed a different design but worked together in perfect harmony. Live hot pink peonies decorated the top tier. Flowers were provided by Henry Kretchmer of The Flower Garden. Katie and Marty, it was such a pleasure to work with you two! Blessings for a fantastic life together!

Little AJ's 2nd Birthday-

Beth Petro, one of my most loyal clients, ordered this 2 tier cake for her son AJ's birthday. AJ loves Monsters Inc and Fraggle Rock. The top tier of this cake is a sculpted rock covered in grasses with Red, Wimbley and Gobo on top. The bottom tier is Monsters Inc inspired in use of color and characters. Beth (and AJ) loved this cake, and I loved creating it for them! Happy 2nd Birthday, AJ!

Meghan's Baby Shower Cake-

Meghan is a wonderful woman. Meghan and I met over 2 years ago when she and her now husband Jason met with me to design their September 2009 wedding cake. That same year I realized Meghan was a kindergarten teacher at the school where my son was attending kindergarten. After having my second son, I joined a fitness boot camp where Meghan was also 'camping'. Needless to say, it was inevitable that we became friends as our paths crossed so many times. She and her husband Jason are two very wonderful people. Meghan and Jason are expecting their first child, little Ayla, in August. They are also moving to Florida next weekend. While this is sad news to all of us here, we are happy for them at such an exciting time in their lives. I created this baby shower cake to surprise Meghan at her bee - themed baby shower this weekend. This 2 tier butter cream cake is trimmed with a black and white polka dot ribbon. Sugar bees buzz around a sugar Anemone and a bee hive made of cake. We love you Meghan, Jason and Ayla!
