Flowers and Beach- it's what Hilton Head Brides love best!

Last weekend was full of flowers and sea shells as our clients were married in all of Hilton Head Island's splendor.

Brittany and Joel- Moss Creek Plantation- Hilton Head Island/Bluffton, SC

Brittany and Joel kept things natural. By using shades of ivory and natural greenery, they incorporated textures in a lot of the aspects of their wedding. Table linens, florals, centerpieces and the most obvious....the cake. This 3 tier white butter cream with ivory horizontal stripes to add texture, depth and dimension, was the perfect compliment to the surrounding decor. The flowers on the cake are live flowers. To my excitement...I received a thank you email from Brittany and Joel the very next day...(like they didn't have other things to do)! I very much appreciated them taking time to express their pleasure with their wedding cake. I sincerely enjoyed working with these two and hope to see them every year on a return trip to Hilton Head.

On to the photos of their cake followed by their email:

Sheri,
We just wanted to thank you so much for making our wedding cake look so great. It was absolutely beautiful and we adored what you did with the flower arrangement on the cake. Everyone said that it was the BEST CAKE they have ever had at a wedding. Honestly, all 3 layers were outstanding!!! People were looking for leftovers to take home, but there were none. (hahah). Thanks again.
Brittany and Joel Burnett
-No Brittany and Joel- Thank You!

Theresa and Jan- Wexford Clubhouse- Hilton Head Island, SC

This couple is soooooo lovely! I met with Theresa and her family earlier this year and truly felt blessed to know them. I adore Theresa and her sense of style. She definitely wanted a 1950's Hollywood theme and from what I saw at her reception set up, she absolutely knew how to pull it off!!
Most of my clients opt for hand made sugar flowers in lieu of live flowers on their cakes for two main reasons. One: it's neat to say your entire cake is edible Two: you can keep the flowers forever. You can put the same flowers on your 50th anniversary cake if you keep them in room temperatures and out of direct sun light.
It was really important to Theresa's father to include sugar flowers on her cake. He loved them as an art form and wanted only the best for his daughter and her stylish plans for her wedding. Sadly, Theresa lost her father in the weeks leading up to her wedding. My heart prays for emotional healing and recovery for Theresa and her family. It was bittersweet to create the flowers for this cake, but I get comfort in knowing Theresa will be able to keep and treasure these flowers forever as they were definitely a gift from her father.

Theresa and Jan, may your hearts stay strong together, forever! All my best ~Sheri

Natalia and Adam- Hampton Hall Club- Bluffton, SC

Natalia and Adam.....style style style!! I was FLOORED by the beauty of your wedding reception decor! I was definitely in the know all along about the way they were planning to execute their reception decor...but I NEVER could have imagined it pulled together like this! Ivory, white and gold illuminated the beautiful Hampton Hall Club. Raven Clark pulled this affair together and A to Zinnias provided stunning floral centerpieces I couldn't stop staring at!

I created sugar flowers for Adam and Natalia's cake as well. Hydrangea, Orchids and Peonies draped from their 5 tier ivory cake with pearlized white accents.

Beautiful style, beautiful couple- Congratulations!

Bria and Aaron- Private Home- Hilton Head Island, SC

A destination Hilton Head wedding is always super fun, especially when the couple is pulling beach into the day! Here we get lots of requests for beach theme wedding cakes...I strive to create every one of them differently and uniquely. Bria and Aaron selected a beach design with pearls, baubles and shells displayed in a very chic and modern way. I was happy to see them upon delivery and hear their happy approval of their wedding cake design. Congratulations Bria and Aaron! I very much enjoyed meeting you and your beautiful family!

Kristin and Taylor- Daufuskie Island, SC

Kristin and Taylor also travelled to Hilton Head Island to enjoy the beach and naturally beautiful surroundings. Their beach theme cake included shells and bubbles displayed in a more flowing asymetrical fashion than the previous beach cake. I was also fortunate to meet Kristin and her family upon delivery and was excited to hear them express their love of the cake. I really admire my destination clients for having faith and trust in my design ability. It is difficult to know what you are getting when telephone and internet are your options for planning from afar. Thank you again for letting me take part in your special day. I'm happy to have had the opportunity to meet you!

Congratulations May 16 and 17 Newly Weds!!

With the potential for rain looming, these beautiful couples kept their spirits and held the showers at bay for the most part! Saturday was beautiful- not too hot, not too dreary...barely any rain to speak of. Sunday...was well, a little different. Mary and Bill are a wonderful couple who had to put their plan B into action. You may not have had that outdoor ceremony you so hoped for, but in the words of my wedding planner friend, " A wet knot is harder to untie than a dry knot" ;)

Onto the photos!

Molly and Bryan- May 16- Belfair- Bluffton, SC

Molly and Bryan were married at beautiful Belfair. Their wedding cake was a 3 tier fondant covered design. The finish was pearlized satin complete with whimsical ribbon roses and sugar monogram letter topper. This design was brought to me as an idea and recreated for them. This cake was actually one of my top choices for my very own wedding cake- so you know I LOVE it!
The grooms cake is an ode to Georgia Bulldog fans out there! Go Dawgs!

Lisa Manning of Southern Weddings coordinated this day flawlessly and seemingly effortlessly. It was truly beautiful!

Corrinne and Justin- May 16- Colleton River- Nicklaus Clubhouse- Bluffton, SC

What sweethearts!!! I adore Corrinne and Justin and hope their wedding and their cake was everything they hoped for and more! This 4 tier square in pool blue and ivory was complete with pin cushion design and stripes alternating between the layers. I created sugar flowers for this cake, tying in their hydrangea and roses from their reception decor. Beautiful cake, beautiful couple... what a happy ending (or beginning)

Joei and Gary- May 16- RiverBend Lodge- Bluffton, SC

This couple pulled in everything that makes them....well them, and tied it into their cake design. The cake was the entire wedding. It was the only thing served at the wedding and the very centerpiece (literally, dead center) of the lodge. This 3 tier lilac fondant covered cake was complete with movies, popcorn, soda, sushi, rafts, Mickey Icon, Joei's Winnie the pooh toaster, Pooh and Tigger, Sami and Lili (their poochies), Gary's Mini Cooper, rings, hearts, you name it...it's on there....oh yeah and a little bride and groom! I thought they were great sports to go a little out of the box...I very much enjoyed creating this cake for them!

Abby and Christoff- May 16- Wexford Plantation Clubhouse- Hilton Head, SC

What a beautiful wedding reception designed and produced by Linda Smreczak and her team at Amanda Rose Weddings. The colors and arrangements were perfectly fitting for this couple and the day was truly theirs. They opted for a beach theme cake- very popular for destination Hilton Head weddings.

Erica and Levi- May 16- Private Beach Home- Hilton Head, SC

How cute are Erica and Levi!!? They had a wonderful Hilton Head beach wedding with the reception of close family and friends in a huge beach home rented for the week. Their cake was a 3 tier finished in ivory butter cream with edible pearls, and a gold and ivory filigree ribbon border. Many Blessings Erica and Levi!

Katy and Brian- May 16- Windows on the Waterway- Hilton Head, SC

Katy and Brian are fun and exhuberant! Very laid back and free spirited with the wedding details. Working with Celebration Events to make their Windows on the Waterway reception a success was fitting for them. This couple went beachy without the beach and nautical without the anchors and sails. A whimsical free flowing design was perfect for their cake. Wave pattern, bubbles and baubles and their custom k + b monogram decorated their 3 tier cake.

Congrats Katy and Brian!

Mary and Bill- May 17- Marriott Resort- Palmetto Dunes- Hilton Head, SC

Mary and Bill chose Hilton Head Island for their destination wedding. Hoping for blue skies with white puffy clouds is all they could do. Mother Nature had different plans for Hilton Head that day, but Mary and Bill- you are married- together forever and get to vacation on Hilton Head! That sounds just great to me! Congratulations and many blessings!

Happy Anniversary Amanda and Michael!- May 17, 2009.

Amanda and Michael were married May 17, 2008 and enjoyed a gorgeous 3 tier cake by Sheri's Edible Designs. They were fortunate enough to be able to return to Hilton Head for a few days to celebrate their anniversary. They returned to Sheri's Edible Designs in search of an ode to their wedding cake. A fresh version of the cake they enjoyed one year ago (down to the minutes) that day. As they were standing in the store, they explained exactly that time one year ago they were saying their vows. Michael kindly reminded Amanda that she was 10 minutes late to the ceremony so it was not actually down to the minute! Ahhh, sweet love. I have a special place in my heart for these two and wish them nothing but the very best. I hope you come for a fresh cake every year. I will be here waiting!

Bottle of Jack with a Pail of Sand on Wall Street

Last week was very 3D at Sheri's Edible Designs! We love the sculpted cakes and LOVE the client who can dream them up too!

Grooms Cake for a financial advisor- New York Stock Exchange building complete with sugar Wall Street Bull, Wall Street Sign and Piles of Money.

If only the real building tasted like Strawberry Cream and Chocolate Banana!!!!

Happy Wedding Day- say it with sand!!!!

You have to love the client who selects a pail of sand (complete with sugar shells and shovel) as their wedding cake!

Beachy 80th- Happy Birthday Marie!- Marie celebrated her 80th birthday with a surprise birthday barbeque at The Dunes House in Palmetto Dunes.

Orchids and Curly Willow- Samantha celebrated her wedding day at The South Carolina Yacht Club, which is a beautiful venue. Her cake was an ivory mixed shape cake with shiny fondant bands and sugar orchids and edible curly willow branches. Congratulations!!

This bottle of Jack Daniels was created for a small birthday party- I'm sure they were serving the real thing too!

Happy May!!

Is it REALLY May already? It seems we just rung in the new year like....yesterday!

This wedding weekend was very exciting for me. I had the pleasure of working with a few of these clients for more than a year. I was able to follow them in their planning processes and was overcome with excitement for them at the thought of their big days finally being here!

Congratulations!!! I am happy for you, but will no doubt feel an empty place in my heart made of cake now that your weddings have come and gone!!! I wish you all the very very best for the future!

Melissa and Steve- Country Club of Hilton Head - Hilton Head Island, SC

I have been working with Melissa and Steve since the latter part of 2007. Being a destination wedding, plenty of preparation and planning is required. They knew they wanted a blue cake, they knew they wanted beach and they knew they wanted shells. It was just a matter of creating a design that was the fun and laid back beachy feel, only unlike every beachy cake you see. This is what we came up with together. Congratulations Melissa and Steve!

The Shuman's - Fripp Island Beach Club - Fripp Island, SC

The Shuman's celebrated their 10th anniversary with a vow renewal. They are military and 10 years ago, eloped as a young couple in love. Now 10 years and several deployments later, they invited friends and family to share in and witness the love they have had for each other all this time with a "wedding" celebration. Their colors were latte, champagne and ivory with touches of browns and golds. Fripp Island is very beachy and has major private island appeal. The Shuman's wanted a beach feel without the overtly beachy shell cake. Together, we reached this design. Congratulations!

Lauren and David- Palmetto Bluff Golf Grill- Bluffton, SC

Lauren and David are a great couple with very simplified minimalistic tastes. Their wedding cake was a three tier round with a smooth white butter cream finish, fondant pearl border and live gerber daisies atop. I wish you much happiness for the future together!

Rehearsal Dinner Groom's Cake for Mary- Aqua Grille and Lounge- Hilton Head Island, SC

Mary wanted to surprise her fiance with a Boston Red Sox baseball hat cake. The hat, baseball and home plate are all made of cake. I hope this was a great surprise!

Kimarie and Eric - Palmetto Bluff Golf Grill- Bluffton, SC

Kimarie and Eric were married at the Inn at Palmetto Bluff with the reception following at the Golf Grill located inside the May River Golf Club at Palmetto Bluff. They opted for a textured white butter cream finish made to look "messy" adorned with live green cymbidium orchids.
Congratulations Kimarie and Eric! It was a pleasure to create your wedding cake!
